Derek becomes concerned for Thane after it becomes obvious the drell is neglecting himself after he has successfully saved Kolyat and knows he is likely to die during the suicide mission. Derek can't stand the idea of anyone on his ship thinking they are alone.

Yup, allusion was kinda intentional.

As for Carry On, I'm currently using NaNoWriMo to get myself to write out a functional draft for it. I've got so much planned for it, it's going to take a lot of work to get it threaded through and decide what to cut and what to keep. If I happen to finish Carry On here, I'll start work on Thorns, the prequel story I have partially planned out.

And, as a question to anyone who cares to give an opinion:

Would anyone be interested in a rewrite of She-Ra from a darker perspective? An homage, with the serial numbers filed off? There is a lot of interesting plot points that weren't addressed, I felt, in the story. Keeping tropes like the magic sword, the resistance, the empire, science vs. magic. I really loved the story growing up and using the same tropes would be fun, I think.

I need to see if I can do it...
